Welcome to
Junk Art Views!
Clever. Creative. Talented. These are all words
that can describe what you see across America
today. Junk art can be anywhere along state
roadways, interstate highways, or in city parks and
yards. From a primitive statue made from old auto
parts to complex mosaic tile work, you can find art
just about everywhere. You see rustic wagons and
farm equipment that helped build America displayed
with pride. There are painted murals on historic
downtown buildings or fences. Junk artwork can be
seen in antique stores along America’s roads—full
of colorful bits and pieces from a bygone era! From
the commonplace item to the most complex sculpture,
Americans truly have a wonderful sense of
individualism and artistry. They can be ingenious,
original, and inventive. Junk art can be seen in
train yards, museums, and alleyways. Take the time
to go a little slower and see what you can find
along your way. You may see it in the handmade
birdhouses on your neighbor’s lawn. You may see it
in a western history museum displaying pioneer
artifacts invented by resourceful homesteaders.
Some people have even taken twisted junkyard metal
scraps and made whirling interactive sculptures to
catch the eye. You may just be amazed by the
imaginative displays our country has to offer!
